Beginning on the 1st of July, 2010, China Unicom of Fujian province has officially launched TAISYS’ duoSIM® solution as part of their 3G SIM service and started to sell in Unicom direct operated stores in 9 major cities across the province.This indicates that China Unicom is officially adopting TAISYS’ innovative duoSIM solution as their trump card against the current leader of China’s 3G market, China Mobile, to expand the user base of 3G WCDMA services with significant growth.

In fact, ever since China Unicom first received their 3G license for WCDMA in early 2009, local provincial China Unicom branches have been inquiring for solutions, and ideas, and mature 3G operators from other countries shared their experiences. It did not take much before the unique and innovated ultra slim SIM solution adopted by STARHUB of Singapore, and VIBO of Taiwan to catch the eye of leading managers of China Unicom.

After a series of detailed and sophisticated technical tests, TAISYS KingSub™ duoSIM® Solution has pass the 3G USIM card verification tests of China Unicom, at the same time, sales and business verifications are also proceeding smoothly. Concurrently, Taisys Technologies has been working closely with China Unicom on analyzing and identifying the unique behavioral and habitual usage patterns of the China market to propose and realize specific functional and service features that would make the solution even more appealing to the target market. In early 2010, China Unicom headquarter has finally approved and agreed to launch business pilots in select provinces.

During the business pilots, employees of Taisys Technologies Beijing, China Unicom Headquarters, and several regional offices of China Unicom joined forces in performing extensive device tests and market research. With the attention of the company top executives, China Unicom of Fujian progressed most swiftly: not only did the Company CEO try out the product personally he also invited the VIP clients to try out the product and asked that senior marketing personnel think of ideas for marketing the slim SIM solution. At the same time, China Unicom of Fujian also sent a team, lead by their Marketing VP, to Taiwan for information exchange and studied with Vibo telecom and other major clients to experience and understand the product, setting a solid foundation for large scale marketing and distribution.
